Food and Feasts
For our worship series on stories of food that we find in scripture, we surrounded our community with symbols of feasting, harvest, and mealtime.
On our chancel, I created a backdrop of food boxes from our weekly food pantry along with mason jars of beans & grains, prop burlap sacks filled with crumpled paper, and wine bottles from California wineries.
We moved our communion table to the center of the sanctuary where it became an interactive prayer station that changed each Sunday. One week our community was invited to write prayers to speak into the famines of life, and another week our community brought donations of ready-to-eat food for our unhoused neighbors.
