Aged Parchment Banners of Creeds & Confessions
For our worship series on creeds and confessions, I worked with our high schoolers to create giant “parchment” banners with some of the ancient words that are a part of our Christian tradition.
We started with rolls of butcher paper and used permanent marker to write out text from our creeds and scripture. I aged the paper by spraying extra-black coffee on it and drying it overnight. Then, I rolled the paper up and burned the edges to add more age and texture.
We also placed aged paper versions of full creeds and confessions throughout the sanctuary so our community could reflect on them during our weekly meditation time.
