The Faces of Christmas

During Christmas 2020, our church community was not yet worshipping in person and many places in San Francisco were still closed to the public. We were able to keep our sanctuary open so our neighbors could reflect and meditate on the Christmas story with art and music.

We created four prayer stations with candles, evergreen cuttings, and visual art of the four major Christmas story characters (Mary, Joseph, the angels, and the shepherds) making sure to include a wide variety of artistic styles and cultural depictions. To enhance the space, our music director curated and arranged a background music playlist of Christmas hymns for piano.
