Beyoncé Mass
In April 2018, I helped create and develop Beyoncé Mass, a Christian worship service that uses Beyoncé’s music to foster empowering conversations about Black women. The service grew out of my coursework at San Francisco Theological Seminary under the instruction of Yolanda Norton. Our first mass took place at Grace Cathedral and gathered nearly 1000 people from all spiritual backgrounds.
Following our first event, I served as the Creative Production Manager as the service traveled to Los Angeles, New York, Lisbon, and other cities around the world. For the service, I designed the visuals, crafted our liturgy, shot video segments, led media outreach, coordinated the music team, and managed technical components.
Beyoncé Mass has been featured in the New York Times, VICE News, the San Francisco Chronicle, among other publications.
